Hey girls! I recently discovered this method to make a makeup setting spray of your own. The best part is that it is super easy to make and costs you almost nothing if you have the ingredients at hand. All the famous setting sprays like MAC prime have just a few ingredients in them that set the makeup like magic and really put the whole look together.
If you are someone like me who doesn’t like to spend thousands of rupees in a makeup setting spray that seems to only vanish in a minute, you definitely need to try out this easy-on-pocket method. So, read through and do share if you find it helpful:
- An empty spray bottle
- One cup of filtered water
- 1 tablespoon of glycerin (the more, the better for dry skin but do not go overboard with it!)
- 5 drops of your favorite essential oil to add scent (Optional)
Step # 1
Take the empty spray bottle and unscrew it. Fill more than half of it with clean and filtered water. You can use a funnel for your ease.
Step # 2
Once you have filled the bottle with water, add one or two tablespoons of glycerin to it. Make sure you use a lot less glycerin in proportion to the water. If your skin is oily, do not go overboard with it as it may leave your skin greasier than it already is.
Step # 3
This step is completely optional and depends on your preference. You can add a few drops of essential oil of your choice. It will only help add a pleasant scent to your spray.
Step # 4
Now that you are done adding all the ingredients, screw the lid on and shake the bottle well for about 30 seconds. It will help mix all the ingredients up. Make sure you shake it well before using it every time.
For me, the results were just astoundingly amazing and I guess I am never going to buy a makeup setting spray when this one works exactly the same.
After making my spray, I carried out an experiment to see how effective it is. I took out my favorite Jacklyn Hill palette and applied the darkest shade on to my wrist without spraying first. Then, I used the spray on my wrist and let it absorb into my skin. Once it was all settled, I applied the same shade on top of the area where I used the spray.
The difference was SO obvious and it left me in awe! It works like a Holy Grail guys and you can see for yourself in the photos here. I also tried it on after getting done with my makeup to set it and it
- helped me big time to get rid of that powdery and cakey appearance of the makeup
- Helped smooth out the creases under my eyes
- Brought out the pigmentation so well
- Reduced the fall out of my eyeshadows
- Kept my makeup pretty intact for hours just like the other makeup setting sprays do
So, try it out girls and you will fall in love for sure. Please, do share your experience with me and let me know if you found this blog helpful. If there are any queries, feel free to shoot in the comments below.
